KLIO – Information for our Authors
In accordance with its tradition, KLIO understands ancient history in the widest possible sense, covering in particular also the history of Egypt, the ancient Near East, and other neighboring cultures. It also applies to important related disciplines, especially archaeology. The focus, however, is on Greek and Roman history. The languages of publication are German, English, French, Italian, and Spanish. The journal publishes articles as well as book reviews.
Manuscript
The editors ask authors to observe the following guidelines for manuscript preparation:
Only works that are not published anywhere else can be accepted for publication. The manuscript should be submitted via https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/klio in DOC and PDF format. Notes should be inserted as endnotes. We request an abstract in the language of the article as well as in English.
Title
The manuscript must contain the following information at the beginning:
Line 1: full name of the author, E-Mailadress (will be included in the publication and is used for delivery of proofs)
Line 2: title of the work
Line 3: keywords
Notes, Illustrations, and Drawings
Notes are to be numbered beginning with 1.
Illustrations should be submitted in JPG format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi (line drawings 1200 dpi). All illustrations are to be submitted with the manuscript in separate, consecutively numbered files. Copyright must be observed and publication rights must be obtained by the author.
Citation
Literature cited has to be put in a bibliography at the end of the contribution, Author name and year of publication appear in the annotations.

References collected in the bibliography should follow the format below:
Monographs:
Author 2019: A. Author, Title of the book. Undertitle (Title of Series), Berlin 2019.
Publication in volumes:
Author 2017: A. Author, Title of paper, in: E. Editor – C. Coeditor (eds.), Title of volume, Berlin 2017, 233–239.
Journal articles:
Author 2018: A. Author, Title of the article. Undertitle, KLIO 100.1, 2018, 1–100.
Lexikon entry:
Autor 2016: A. Autor, s. v. Lemma, in: DNP I.1, 2016, 100–105.
Journal titles should be abbreviated according to L’Année Philologique, Latin and Greek authors and works according to Der neue Pauly.
Corrections
Major changes to the text in the PDF-proofs cannot be considered. Corrections are to be made with the comment function in Adobe Reader.
Reprints
Authors will obtain a PDF file of their publication.
